Our Staff

Our professional staff includes:

Rabbi Ari Goldstein, Arnold, MDRabbi Ari Goldstein

I was born in Baltimore, Maryland and grew up in New Orleans, Louisiana. I studied at the University of Pittsburgh and The Hebrew Union College for Rabbinical School.

Prior to joining Temple Beth Shalom, I served as an assistant rabbi at North Shore Congregation Israel in Glencoe, Illinois, and then as an associate rabbi at M’kor Shalom in Cherry Hill, New Jersey.

My wife, Hanna, is also a rabbi, and we are the proud parents of two daughters, Sela and Nava, and two sons, Samuel and Juda.

Cantor Karen Webber

Please welcome Cantor Karen Webber, who will join Rabbi Goldstein on the bima in the coming year as our part-time cantor, most often on Saturday mornings, and will help in preparing our bar and bat mitzvah students.

Karen graduated from Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion’s Debbie Friedman School of Sacred Music and was ordained as a cantor in 1990. She moved to Baltimore a year ago and has worked at Oheb Shalom and Bolton Street Synagogue, serving on the bima as well as in the classroom.

Cantor Webber is also the facilitator for Kol Echad (everyone), a traveling experiential Shabbat morning service for kids with disabilities and their families. She travels with the group monthly to Jewish congregations in the greater Baltimore area.

Karen also designs innovative music and theater experiences to be performed in theaters, schools, and elder care facilities. She works in collage and with found objects and is a teaching artist with Art With a Heart and Abrakadoole. Karen is excited to be part of the Temple Beth Shalom community.

Religious School Director, Tracey Greenberg (starting June 1, 2019)

I grew up in Fairfax, Virginia where I attended religious school at Congregation Olam Tikvah through post-confirmation.  I graduated from Penn State University where I received a BS in Elementary and Kindergarten Education.  After graduation I moved to New York City where I received an MA in the Psychological Foundations of Reading from New York University. After a few years of teaching, I continued on to receive 30 additional credits in TESOL.  I also taught 5th grade at the Ballet Tech/ New York City Public School for Dance for 8 years until my eldest son Jack was born.  In 2009, my husband Brett and I moved to Anne Arundel County to live closer to family. I have taught in Anne Arundel County Public Schools for the past 9 years and love it! I am excited to be part of the Temple Beth Shalom staff.  It is very important to me to make our religious school a place that nurtures all of our children and provides them with a place to grow their Jewish identities.

B’nai Mitzvah Tutor, Rebecca Binstock

I am a long-time member of Temple Beth Shalom and bring with me a lifetime commitment to Jewish education. My passion for working with children was sparked during a year on a kibbutz, which led to a degree in Early Childhood Education from the University of Maryland.

I have been a resident of Severna Park and involved in Temple Beth Shalom since 2000. Two of my children attended the preschool program and became b’nai mitzvah here at Temple Beth Shalom.

missy (4)Melissa (Missy) Levin, Preschool Director

I have been a part of the preschool program since 2003 when my children started attending the Temple Beth Shalom Preschool.  I started out subbing in the school and became the lead 2’s teacher for many years.  I finished my 14th year of teaching at Temple Beth Shalom last year as our Pre-K teacher.  Both of my children attended the preschool, so I have a great understanding of the program as both a teacher and a parent.  I have a degree from Salisbury State University.  In my spare time I love rock climbing, running races, and sky diving  (yes, I have quite an adventurous side).  I love working with children and am so excited to bring this joy to Temple Beth Shalom everyday.

Jill1_jill_smaller Sussman, Temple Administrator

Originally from Westchester County, New York, I have a degree in Human Resources Management from Florida State University.

Prior to becoming the Temple Administrator, I served as the temple’s event coordinator, also for many years as a temple volunteer, helping to coordinate several fundraising activities for the temple’s preschool and annual temple fundraisers such as the Mishloach Manot (Purim gift boxes), and the temple’s GALA.

I have served as a member of Temple Beth Shalom’s Board of Trustees, Religious School, and Early Childhood Program Committees and served as president and treasurer of the preschool Parent-Teacher Organization.

My husband Ben and I have two children, Sam and Isabelle, both of whom were students in the temple’s preschool and are current religious school students.
